ABSTRACT: The research data on up-dating of drilling-and-blasting operations at the Tey quarry are presented. The process for trim blasting to edge pit walls and to cave blocks is proposed, the formed benches being of greater height. The blasting and delay interval patterns s developed allow that the convergence factor is increased from 1.4 to 3.2, while the oversize yield is lowered by 10–15%.

PHYSICAL MODELING OF EXPLOSIVE FRACTURING OF PRE-STRESSED ROCKS

Volchenko G. N. and Seryakov V. M.*

Siberian State Industrial University, Novokuznetsk, Russia
* Institute of Mining, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russia

ABSTRACT: The authors lay out experimental data on the technology for block fracturing by the short-delay blasting, which induces the formation of rock-weakening cavities of a curved shape. The cavity formation makes it possible to create tensile stresses in a rock block and to reduce the power-intensity of the blasting fracturing.

EXPERIMENTAL AND ANALYTICAL SUBSTANTIATION OF SCHEMES FOR SHORT-DELAY BLASTING OF DEEP ORE BLOCKS

Seryakov V. M. and Volchenko G. N.*

Institute of Mining, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russia
* Siberian State Industrial University, Novokuznetsk, Russia

ABSTRACT: The authors perform the theoretical and experimental modeling of schemes for short-delay blasting of rock blocks with formation of free, curved surfaces. It is established that tension areas arising within a rock block at all breakage stages tend to reduce the energy intensity of the block fracturing.

ASSESSMENT OF THE ECONOMIC EFFICIENCY OF THE DYNAMIC-BUCKET EXCAVATOR

Zaitsev G. D.

Institute of Mining, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russia

ABSTRACT: The procedure to evaluate the economic efficiency of the dynamic-bucket excavator is proposed. The application scope for the dynamic-bucket excavator involves the blasting-free rock excavation in comparison to the drilling and blasting development of a rock mass and the use of a conventional bucket excavator to handle broken rocks.

Anushenkov A. N., Tapsiev A. P., Uskov V. A., and Artemenko Yu.V.

Institute of Mining, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russia

ABSTRACT: The authors consider the theoretical and technological grounds to improve the performance of the surface fill-production plant at mines of ZF OAO «GMK Noril’sky Nickel». Modification of the operating milling facility design is described, calculations to optimize the ball charge mode and the results of pilot-production tests are reported. The worked-out recommendations allowed increasing the grinding circuit capacity by 15–20% at the fill-production plant.
